Jordan Maron, better known as his YouTube username and
gamertag, CaptainSparklez, is an American YouTube personality. Maron is best
known for his song parodies made using Minecraft textures. He also regularly
posts gameplay commentary videos that mainly focus on Minecraft. However,
other games are also played during the video such as Team Fortress 2, and Call
of Duty, among others. In November 2012, Maron's YouTube channel surpassed 2
million subscribers, after which he received the YouTube 1 million subscriber
Golden Play Button. He now has over 3 million subscribers. Maron
collaborated with Andrea Rene of Machinima in a video published by What's
Trending. In December 2012, Maron appeared in the inaugural episode of The
Fine Brothers' YouTubers React. and has continued to be part of YouTubers React,
though he was not in Episodes 5 or 6. In his time on YouTubers react, he has
spoken about "Gangnam Style", Fred Figglehorn, Rewind YouTube
Style 2012, among others.
Jordan has (as of December 2012) parodied four popular
songs. In music videos Jordan is always accompanied by fellow YouTuber,
"TryHardNinja", who provides the lead vocals in all of the parody
videos. All of the parodies published by Maron have gone viral to different
degrees. As of April 8, 2013, TNT has earned 60 million views, Revenge has
earned 96 million views, surpassing the original song, DJ Got Us Fallin' in
Love, Fallen Kingdom has earned 53 million views, and Minecraft Style has
earned 43 million views (but has since been taken down). Minecraft Style
particularly also achieved media coverage by NBC, MSN, and The Daily Telegraph,
among several other online news publications. "Minecraft Style" is
the most viewed Gangnam Style parody.
